A Poeeem!
I just realized this is my 20th post! And not a poem in 'em. OK. So, a sample for you of something I already have out in publishing land. It is a cute homage to every gothic thing we've ever read, from Mary Shelly to Chas. Addams.
Coming-Out Party
It's Warren Sander's Hideous Toast!
It makes him so much better than most.
The sport that lets us fear the host!
Hooray for Warren Sanders!
So stoke the dragon 'neath the stove;
Prepare the Fijian taboo roast.
Warren's declared a feast, by Jove;
It's why we love and fear the ghost!
His one true love, cold heart's desire
Once was wrenched from him too soon.
He'd howl beside the funeral pyre:
Then made fierce plans beneath the moon.
But now, the object of our feast,
The master's daughter, lithe and frail
He introduces- "Carve the beast!"
Her pallid skin, night hair we hail!
Midnight tresses, dank and fair
Her alabaster, loving gaze
The silk gown floats the marble stair
To her eternal youth we raise!
So rouse ye, all the spectral host,
Come celebrate him, near and far!
From Bangalore to Haitian coast,
Before the waning eastern star!
Hooray for Warren Sanders!
